Dr Nicholas Cole is a Senior Research Fellow at Pembroke College. Specialising in constitutional history and digital humanities, he runs the Quill Project, a research group that studies the negotiation of constitutions and other foundational texts, collaborating with universities in the UK, the USA, and Australia. He read Ancient and Modern History at University College (m. 1997), where he also completed an MPhil in Greek and Roman History, and a DPhil on the use of the Classics by Thomas Jefferson’s generation of revolutionaries. He continues to work on the history of classical reception and the history of political thought alongside other academic interests. He was a Junior Research Fellow at St Peter’s College, and has held teaching posts within the collegiate university. He is Senior Fellow of the Rothermere American Institute, and a member of its steering committee. He is currently serving as Pembroke College’s Academic Director (Senior Tutor).
