Cosima Gillhammer is a Career Development Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall. She completed two degrees in English Linguistics and Medieval Literature at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich before coming to Oxford as a doctoral student and Clarendon Scholar. She has subsequently held positions as Junior Research Fellow at Christ Church, Postdoctoral Researcher at the English Faculty, Oxford, and Erika and Kenneth Riley Fellow at the Huntington Library, California.
Cosima’s research focuses on Middle English literature, textual criticism, and biblical scholarship. She has recently completed a critical edition of the Wycliffite Old Testament Lectionary, a collection of liturgical texts translated from Latin into Middle English, as well as an edition of a fifteenth-century history of the ancient and biblical world in Trinity College, MS 29. Her most recent book, Light on Darkness: The Untold Story of the Liturgy, is forthcoming in April 2025 (Reaktion Press).
